2025 Dodge Durango Release Date: What Does the Future Hold for the Durango?
The 2025 Dodge Durango has been released, and you can order one right now at DARCARS Orange Park CDJR. However, the 2025 Durango is only available in one of three special editions. Why? Because the Durango nameplate is slated for significant change after the 2025 model year. We can't say with complete certainty, but as an educated guess, we believe that the following two possibilities await after the 2025 Dodge Durango release date:
- One: The Dodge Durango is discontinued and replaced by the rumored 2026 Dodge Stealth three-row SUV
- Two: A 2026 or 2025 Dodge Durango redesign occurs, and the model turns into a hybrid or an all-electric vehicle
Either way, there is one rather sad bit of confirmed news: the Dodge Durango 2025 release date will be the final iteration of the HEMI-powered Durango. The 2024 Durango SRT 392 AlcHEMI started this farewell, and now, the special 2025 Dodge Durango models bring it to a close.
Before we move on to the details of each 2025 Dodge Durango model, though, we must relay one last sad bit of information: the HEMI V-8 may be gone entirely once the 2025 Dodge Durango ceases production. The Charger and Challenger (as we know them) have been discontinued, the Wrangler Rubicon 392 has similarly been axed, and the latest Ram 1500 has switched to inline-six power.
The Dodge Durango, Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 form the last stand of the HEMI V-8, and among these models, only the Durango has been officially confirmed to offer the HEMI V-8 for the 2025 model year.
In other words, once the 2025 model year is in full swing, the 2025 Dodge Durango may be your last chance to buy a new car with HEMI power under the hood.

2025 Dodge Durango Specs: Monstrous Power, Massive Practicality
There are three Dodge Durango trim levels for 2025 (which we cover further down the page), and of those, two have the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 from Hellcat models, and one has the beloved 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 from R/T models. There is also a 2024 special edition known as the SRT 392 AlcHEMI that can be purchased today with the 6.4-liter HEMI V-8 from Scat Pack/SRT 392 models.
But focusing on the two 2025 Dodge Durango engines, we start with the 5.7-liter HEMI. While full specs have not been announced, we do expect that this will be the same 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 found in the 2024 Durango R/T; that engine delivers the following specs:
- 360 horsepower
- 390 pound-feet of torque
- Eight-speed automatic transmission
- Standard RWD or available AWD
- Maximum towing capacity of 8,700 pounds1
- EPA-estimated 22 MPG on the highway2
The 2025 Dodge Durango towing capacity will most likely continue to be a maximum of 8,700 pounds.1
Moving on to the Hellcat side of things, the supercharged 2025 Durango specs have similarly yet to be fully confirmed, but we do know several key details, like the 710-horsepower output, and that most specs will be the same as 2024. Using the 2024 version as a reference, the Hellcat models should offer the following specs:
- 710 horsepower
- 645 pound-feet of torque
- Eight-speed automatic transmission
- Standard AWD
- Maximum towing capacity of 8,700 pounds1
- 0-60 miles per hour in 3.5 seconds/quarter mile in 11.5 seconds
The Dodge Durango MPG ratings matter a lot less in Hellcat guise, but if you're curious, the 2024 model delivered an EPA-estimated 17 MPG on the highway.3

2025 Dodge Durango Configurations: The Confirmed Monsters
The familiar Durango models you've come to love at our Dodge dealership in Jacksonville, FL, may not join the party. As mentioned, only three special-edition models have been announced for the 2025 Dodge Durango lineup, and as they can be ordered today, we believe they will be the full extent of what is offered. These models are the:
- 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Hammerhead: Starting price of $113,720 MSRP4 – Celebrates the Hellcat with unique enhancements like Hammerhead Grey Laguna leather upholstery with sepia and silver accent stitching, forged carbon-fiber interior trim, 20-inch Satin Carbon wheels, bright exhaust tips, a satin-black hood, and more.
- 2025 Dodge Durango SRT Hellcat Silver Bullet: Starting price of $113,325 MSRP4 – Creates a uniquely stylish competition-slaying package with Ebony Red Nappa leather upholstery with sepia and silver accent stitching, a suede steering wheel, forged carbon-fiber interior trim, and 20-inch Lights Out wheels.
- 2025 Dodge Durango R/T 20th Anniversary: Starting price of $70,470 MSRP4 – Tributes the 2024 beginnings of the HEMI and Durango partnership with Brembo® brakes, a HEMI hood graphic, SRT seats with Tupelo bronze accent stitching, forged carbon-fiber interior trim, an included SRT Track Experience, and 20-inch Brass Monkey wheels.
Of special note, the R/T 20th Anniversary model includes the Tow N Go package as standard equipment; it's also available in Plus and Premium trim options to select your desired level of luxury. All of these 2025 Dodge Durango models, though, build on core trims, such as the SRT Hellcat serving as the basis for the SRT Hellcat Hammerhead. The specs, standard features, and styling cues from the core trims will be carried over.
2025 Dodge Durango Interior: Three Rows of Comfort
When you view all new Dodge inventory and explore the Durango, you'll understand why it has been a consistently popular choice: space, quality, and comfort. This SUV can offer a three-row interior with seating for up to seven. Using the 2024 Durango for reference, this interior can provide the following dimensions:
- Seats: Seven
- Cargo Room: Up to 85.1 cubic feet
- Passenger Room: 141 cubic feet
- Legroom (Front/Second/Third Row): 40.3 / 38.6 / 33.5 inches
- Headroom (Front/Second/Third Row): 39.9 / 39.8 / 37.8 inches
- Shoulder Room (Front/Second/Third Row): 58.5 / 57.7 / 50.4 inches
As the 2025 Dodge Durango models are all special-edition versions of higher-end trim levels from the 2024 lineup, they include a massive amount of comfort, convenience, and safety features. The following is just a taste of what the Durango can offer:
- 10.1-inch Uconnect® 5 Nav touchscreen display

- Heated and ventilated front seats with eight-way power adjustability
- Three-zone auto climate control

Frequently Asked Questions
Is there going to be a 2025 Dodge Durango?
There will be a 2025 Dodge Durango, and you can order yours today. However, the 2025 Durango lineup will likely only include special-edition, high-performance trim levels. Three have been confirmed as of our writing, including the SRT Hellcat Hammerhead and R/T 20th Anniversary. All are V-8 configurations, as this will be the final year that the Durango SUV offers HEMI power.
What is the future of the Durango?
The Durango will enter the 2025 model year with a few special edition V-8 trims. The 2025 Durango is the final Durango (and most likely the final Dodge vehicle) to offer HEMI power, but its future beyond this is unconfirmed. Some rumors state that a Dodge Stealth SUV will replace it while conflicting rumors say that a Durango redesign will occur. We'll know conclusively by the end of 2024.
What will replace Durango?
Current rumors say that a supposed 2026 Dodge Stealth three-row SUV may replace the Durango, but the manufacturer has not confirmed this as of our writing. If the Dodge Stealth does not replace the Dodge Durango, the Durango will likely be redesigned and turned into either a hybrid or all-electric vehicle for the 2026 model year.
